Australia to Ireland is a long haul. Sea freight transit times typically run between eight and twelve weeks from Brisbane, depending on vessel schedules, your destination port, and customs clearance on arrival.

One of the most important things to get right when shipping to Ireland from Australia is your Transfer of Residence application. ToR relief allows you to import used personal belongings and household effects into Ireland free from customs duty and VAT — which on a full household shipment can represent a significant saving.
ToR relief applies to anyone moving their normal place of residence to Ireland from outside the EU. This includes Irish citizens returning home after living in Australia, as well as non-Irish nationals relocating to Ireland permanently. To be eligible, your goods must have been owned and in use for at least six months before you move.
ToR relief doesn’t apply to everything. The main exclusions are:
You’ll need to submit a completed C&E 1076 form to Irish Revenue at least two weeks before your goods arrive in port. Supporting documents typically include proof you’re moving to Ireland (such as an employment letter or rental agreement), proof of prior residence in Australia, and evidence that you own the goods being imported.

Beyond ToR relief, there are a few other requirements to keep in mind when moving to Ireland from Australia.
Ireland follows EU customs rules. Items you can’t include in a household shipment include narcotics, firearms and ammunition, fireworks and explosives, counterfeit goods, and certain food products including meat and poultry. Plants and plant material also require specific permits.
